Yes, that is exactly what I have to do to restart the SYSLOG as well in 4.7.2. And I agree with your theory, that the CAM gets too busy logging and kills syslog or something like that.

We aren't sure why it stops, but unlike your case, ours survives the "kick all users". To get it going again, we navigate to the syslog setup in the CAM and hit "update", then it starts again.
