SPARQL Extension allows the use of additional functionality in SPARQL queries,
e.g., aggregation functions (count, min, max, etc.).
An appropriate subset of extensions listed here
http://esw.w3.org/SPARQL/Extensions should be implemented irrespective of the
capability of the underlying SPARQL engines. If the underlying engine does not
support the requested functionality a mechanism should be defined to handle
this situation
