I just happened across an installer (vmware's) which requests libncursesw.so.5

Checking LFS ncurses build, these libs are built/installed as consequence of
using the  '--enable-widec'  configure switch, which we don't actually do in 
CLFS.

Fortunately speaking, the wide-char ncurses libs are name disparate from the
CLFS ncurses build, and it was an easy enough workaround to have both variants
of ncurses libs installed to satisfy the installer's/package make-up.

Would this perhaps be fodder for CLFS-1.2.0 ??
