Heh, I love solving my own issues. I decided to use tune2fs and add a journal and use ext3 for the boot partitions on the Ultra 60 and Powermac. Screw filesystem checks! Now I have no messages from udevd about inotify. That sucker would drive one CPU at full throttle. Still don't know why it would do that when I set a filesystem to be checked in /etc/fstab and that filesystem is ext2.
