Kbd now has a build-time dependency on 'check'. It's only used in the
test suite, which can't be disabled without editing configure/makefiles.

Yes that's what i have done for some time now, both GCC and
libpipeline(dependancy of man-db) use check as part of their testsuites
Kbd-2.0.0 works fine for me
