Hello,

I have been trying to get my CLFS (kernel 2.6.16.18) system working on my network, however, on start up I get the warning:

"Interface eth0 doesn't exist"

after doing some web searches on the problem, I found some others who had gotten the same warning, and I tried the solutions posted there. I double-checked that the drivers for my network card is built into my kernel ( http://linuxfromscratch.org/pipermail/lfs-support/2006-May/030717.html), and that the /etc/udev/rules.d/26-network.rules file is not installed ( http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.lfs.beyond.support/34720).

The network interface in question is a Marvell 88E8053 PCI Express Gigabit LAN controller, which is built into my ASUS A8V-E SE motherboard.

the relevant output from lspci is:
"05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 19)"

and the sections of interest from the .config file used to build my kernel (/boot/configure- 2.6.16.18) are:

thank you for your consideration
