I haven't changed anything at all, I have just been following the CLFS SVN instructions and copying/pasting the commands (less error-prone). What I have done now is building bash 3.1 using CLFS 1.0.0 instructions and that one is going well so it must be some error in bash 3.2 in combination with CLFS SVN. I'm very much willing to help out with this if that's necessary.
