Ok, clear. I just continued building logged in as user clfs. The grub bootloader couldn't load the 64 bits linux kernel.
I made a partition where I generated the ext3 fs and the /mnt/clfs is all on that partition. What I actually wish to do is have another disk and put that partition on that disk, so I can boot from that disk. Like, move everything from /mnt/clfs on to another disk, maintaining all symlinks permissions etc? Any hints upon this? This way I can just use a new lilo bootloader etc etc and boot the system from that disk. The reason we can't build grub on a pure64 system is that it links to 32-bit libraries for the user interface. > Hence, you're saying I can just continue 7.12.1 with the current clfs user > and settings on the host system and it should work fine? > Kind Regards, > > Reinoud. From memory, in chapter 7 we build a stand-alone version of lilo. I forget the detail, but what have you got to lose by trying to do what the book says ? Building lilo and bin86 takes a few minutes, at that point you can try to run it - either it works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, use a rescue CD if you can no longer boot your ubuntu system. But as I said, I believe you should be able to use your existing grub. > > -----Original Message----- Please don't top post. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce _______________________________________________ Clfs-support mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cross-lfs.org/listinfo.cgi/clfs-support-cross-lfs.org _______________________________________________ Clfs-support mailing list [email protected] http://lists.cross-lfs.org/listinfo.cgi/clfs-support-cross-lfs.org
