I think this is just a standard at Cayenne : it is Milestone forever. It was so with 2.x
too, but each milestone was very stable compared to many other "declared final"
projects :).

I hear you, however the Cayenne team would have no obligation to fix a critical bug in M5 vs one in 2.0.x. That is why I think its risky for us to declare Click 2.1.0 stable but ship it with alpha software (even with the Cayenne's stable history).

Maybe this is a good thing. Click could use some of the "new" JDK features.

Yes we should consider going JDK5 (if Cayenne 3.0 final is released that plays our hand anyway) however personally I don't see many advantages for Click users. We could add annotations here and there however we need to see if pros outweigh the cons.

That's why SVN has branches :).

I would volunteer to help :).

Well the first thing to check is if M5 works with Click Cayenne support by replacing the 2.0.x jar with M5. If it does work then the only changes needed would be to the documentation, build.xml and poms.

If M5 doesn't work then we'll need patches for the Cayenne support classes.

You can attach the patches to the JIRA and we can include it when we upgrade.

P.S.
It looks like the mailing list <=> JIRA sync is not working. Your comment
didn't appeared in JIRA.
In the old installation it was working correctly.

You mean the Avoka JIRA or the lonestanding Click JIRA at Apache?
