tabs show even if you are not using multiple tabs

Bug description:
The tabs show when you only have one terminal open.
Expected behaviour is that the tabs are only visible when I have more
then one terminal window.
This is how a lot of apps handle this. ex. Gedit, gnome-terminal,
terminator(this app is in python if a reference is needed)
this will create a lot more room for a larger terminal and/or command
list window.
