I've seen a few posts over the past few weeks from people seeking
ideas for Clojure projects. I thought I'd all let you know about
something I've been following... I'd definitely be participating
myself except I have way too many summer projects as it is.

The prizes are fairly decent, and although the deadline is only three
weeks away I think Clojure's development speed would make it possible
to get something cool out there pretty rapidly. Using Clojure for a
simple server and some sort of client-side JavaScript library
(preferably with charting) such as EXT would be quite easy, and
there's data sets where you could get a quite large bang-for-the-buck.

Most of all, it looks like they could use some more participation -
they only have four entries so far, from what I can see, and to be
honest most of them aren't that impressive. There are probably a lot
more people waiting until closer to the deadline to submit... but
still.

If anyone wants to take this on but needs any help with difficult
parts, architecture assistance or any other kind of help or advice
that isn't too terribly time-consuming, let me know and I'd be glad to
pitch in. I have a lot of experience in this kind of data-based
application, as well as Javascript GUIs. I'm not trying to get a slice
of the prize - keep that. It just sounds like a very worthy project,
and a great way for Clojure to get some exposure, even if it doesn't
win or doesn't get finished in time for the deadline.

Thanks,
-Luke
