This depends on what you want to redefine. True "special forms" in Clojure -- def if do let quote var fn loop recur throw try . new set! -- cannot be redefined, period. Anything else -- the contents of the clojure.core namespace -- is fair game. You could redefine apply like this: (ns my-new-ns (:refer-clojure :exclude (apply))) (defn apply [f & args] ...whatever...
