Yes, I had previously found all those guides, and much more (screencasts, etc). They didn't help because they either showed you how to get a REPL up and going, or they showed you how to download and run something like NetBeans. In the first case, there is only so much coding you can do in a REPL. In the latter case, fine - I have NetBeans.
