Few options to try:

1. If you are on Windows/Linux/Solaris, try JRockit instead of the
HotSpot VM.

2. If you are still on HotSpot try setting the JAVA_OPTS to a
combination of the following options:

-Xms512m
-Xmx1024m
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
-XX:MaxPermSize=128m
-XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled
-XX:+CMSPermGenSweepingEnabled
