lein ancient is checking the Maven repositories for the latest version. 1.9.495 has been released to Maven Central, but isn’t marked as an ‘official’ release on GitHub. You can see the tag here: https://github.com/clojure/clojurescript/releases/tag/r1.9.495.
In general, ClojureScript often does smaller releases that are pre-release or quick bugfixes, without marking them as “Stable” in GitHub.
