can the default options be passed in as a kernel param?

I just whacked my grub because I forgot to check
-t Client does not restore the MBR (Mater Boot Record)

or maybe because I unchecked
[*] -g auto Reinstall grub in client HD MBR (only as grub config exists)

I am a bit fuzzy on which will keep my existing dual boot grub?
