Some additional info I needed to send you:

There isn't a .sf file. In the image only a sda-pt.parted There is an
sda-chs-sf.

Sfdisk -d /dev/sda reports:

/dev/sda1 : start=  63 size=72817857 id=7, bootable
/dev/sda2 : start= 72817920, size= 122547600, id=7

So you mean "-k1" fails there ?
Maybe you show the content of partition table in the saved image to me, 
by running something like:
cat /home/partimag/$YOUR_IMAGE_NAME/hda-pt.sf
and the created partition table by:
sfdisk -d /dev/hda

BTW, could you please tell me the exactly every step you have done ? It 
will be easier for me to follow.
