I did not know that. I thought all testing versions were the pre-live editions and did not include non-free firmware. Why not include them in the live editions?
I am not convinced this is the root of the issue, but I would love to be wrong. I don't know why Ubuntu Server works since I don't recall non-free/GPL firmare being included.
