But it seems that I should not have to do that. You can make it by: 1. Backup the image dir first just in case. 2. Change the file name, e.g. $IMAGENAME/hda2.xxx as $IMAGENAME/hda1.xxx 3. Change the contents of the file $IMAGENAME/part, i.e. change hda2 as hda1. Then you can try to restore the image to /dev/hda1. Of course, you have to deal with the boot.ini of MS Windwos after restoring.
