Thanks for the bug report. I have confirmed this issue on Clonezilla 
live 1.2.8-46.
Apparently this is a bug for grub (1) on Debian Sid. The grub-common 
1.99-4 does not work with the root file system is on LVM.
Please use Clonezilla live 20110530-natty. I have tested it and it works 
here.
