I've solved this issue. I used a modified version of this:
http://drbl.org/faq/2_System/files/editCZCDsquashfs.txt along with the
the same basic steps from here:
http://knoppix.net/wiki3/index.php?title=Knoppix_Remastering_Howto
Basic steps:
1. Run editCZCDsquashfs.sh
(http://drbl.org/faq/2_System/files/editCZCDsquashfs.txt)
2. In another terminal, chroot /tmp/clonezillan/live/squashfs-root
3. apt-get update
4. apt-get install vim
5. Setup eth0 to get dhcp:
auto eth0
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
6. apt-get install tinc
7. Configure tinc:
8. Ensure the tun driver is loaded: add 'tun' to /etc/modules on its own
line.
9. apt-get install chkconfig
10. Make sure that ssh starts on boot: 'chkconfig ssh on'
11. Ctrl+D to exit chroot
12. Backup what you just did:
cd /tmp/
tar -zcvf myclonezilla.tar.gz clonezillan/
13. Return to the terminal that ran the script in #1, and 'exit'
I'll probably publish this on github for any future searchers....
