Hey Dusty! Thanks for Linking to Major's blog! Super helpful, but it does appear to be a regression of some sort in cloud-init, seeing as how it used to work on F28 and these exact symptoms were fixed in rawhide at some point and cloud-init itself purports to support GCE.
But yeah, plug me into support it on GCP. I've been working a lot with it recently, and I think given the upcoming OKD support on FCOS (and hopefully Fedora proper if I have my way), we'll need tooling there anyway. I'm willing to try to take on some of that.
