The installation guide says, under 4.5.5.1 and 4.5.5.2
2. To configure the new directories as NFS exports, edit /etc/exports. Export
the NFS share(s) with rw,async,no_root_squash. For example:
# vi /etc/exports
Insert the following line.
/export *(rw,async,no_root_squash)
Following these instructions, Ubuntu prints the following warning
max@ubuntu:~$ sudo exportfs -a
exportfs: /etc/exports [1]: Neither 'subtree_check' or 'no_subtree_check'
specified for export "*:/export".
Assuming default behaviour ('no_subtree_check').
NOTE: this default has changed since nfs-utils version 1.0.x
