I'll add my 2 cents. It is not impossible to have both, and integrated at that. Actually it would be quite easy to do. If we implement both then we can appeal to both the advanced and novice users.

I've done a fair bit with Perl. I'de be willing to code it myself as long as I have the time next semmester (thats a big IF though). Also, before I moved out here I had a business designing web sites, so I do have a bit of experience with this stuff. Anyway, food for thought. I would be more than willing to help with a web-based forum / email-list integrated solution if people would like to see such a beast implemented.

There are lots of modules for Perl that could be used to simplify our lives too. (For example, http://search.cpan.org/author/MIVKOVIC/Mail-Sendmail-0.78/Sendmail.pm)

(For those of you flamers out there, no I am not making any claims that Perl is all that, but it is what I know, and I happen to like it )
