actually, i'm using kwrite from 3.1/HEAD more and more as features like code 
folding and a nifty "right hand side of the screen" margin line are quite 
nice and hard to live without once you get used to them ...

still hard to beat "15dd:120P" for speed though.

 but it sounds like you want GNOME-only apps. so .. try gvim. =)
