Hi all,

I haven't had an opportunity to post in quite a while as I have been very busy job hunting. Anyway, just an update on Wine. This is semi-old news now, but for those of you that haven't heard... CrossOver Office can now run OfficeXP! The fine folks at CodeWeavers are normally really good about merging their changes back into the main Wine distro a few months after the fact, so we can probably expect to see support for OfficeXP in the main Wine distro soon I hope.

Next in the news, Microsoft phased out Internet Explorer 5, and it is no longer available from their website. This is of importance, as IE5 is the easiest version to get running under Wine, though 6 isn't much harder. In any case, you can probably still find IE5 on mirrors. According to Slashdot after IE6 SP1 Microsoft will stop releasing free standalone versions of Internet Explorer. They will only be offering IE as part of their operating system. The moral of the story is, get IE while you still can, or just use Mozilla... :-)

Regards,

Brian H.
