Now I'm curious to find out more about these dealers. I am already decided that my next computer will be a PowerBook, once I have the money saved. :-) As a beginning exercise, I visited MyMacDealer and Westworld, as they were the only two places I knew of that sell Apple in town (other than Compusmart, which was out of the running years ago based on my prior experiences there). I found MyMacDealer to be very friendly, though perhaps a little condescending, even after I explained that I'm a Linux geek, which should clue any salesman into the fact that I probably know what I'm talking about. Westworld, well, I was there for an hour before anyone even talked to me, and when I gave Standard Customer Response #1, "Well, I'm just looking at the moment", the guy said "Ok", and walked away. Didn't offer to tell me anything about the machines or anything. Guess he wasn't eager to make a sale. I've also been lurking around Mac website forums, and I've seen several references to both places being overpriced (in their software and accessories - the cost of the machines is generally non-negotiable). I'd rather buy my system from a local dealer, so if anything goes wrong, I have someone to talk to (and to keep some money in our community, supporting local jobs, etc), but so far things aren't looking good. :-) Thoughts?
