there are several commercial packages available for windows which you can find by googling... for Linux there is (at least) gocr, ocrad and kadmos. i've had varying levels of success with the first two and haven't tried kadmos. kooka, which comes with kde, provides a nice scanner front end that integrates with all three of the aformentioned linux ocr packages. - -- Aaron J.
