[clug-talk] Shaw Modems

Does anybody know what method Shaw use to check if an IP address is in 
use and if a PC is attached / switched on? As in do they use ICMP pings 
or Multicast packets or IGMP packets etc?

I getting spammed by portscans and it's starting to get a bit ridiculous 
but I just want to rule out if Shaw is legitmately doing this at their 
end to see if my IP address is still in use or if it's a Shaw subscriber 
pulling this off.
