Update...its working, and Im getting flooded with my test mails now. I didnt 
read the instructions after the ebuild and hence never ran the ebuild config. 
DOH!

Except now I keep seeing

 * Caching service dependencies...
 *  Service 'postfix' already provide 'mta'!;
 *  Not adding service 'sendmail'...

even though I unmerged postfix. Any ideas?
