Hi Jon, If you don't wish to utilize Aaron's or Marcel's suggestions you could always give apt4rpm for SuSE a try ;)
Have a look at http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ and go to town. There are a few examples there of doing an 'apt upgrade' or 'apt dist-upgrade' to update your SuSE install. I've been relying on this for the past couple of years now and it gets better and better all the time. I understand that SuSE have been in talks with Richard Bos (apt/apt-libs maintainer) and may be looking at ways of integrating this package management system into future releases of SuSE in an "unofficial" capacity. Anyway, check it out and realize that it is entirely possible to do just what you are requesting: upgrade 9.1 personal to "pro" (which is really only the inclusion of _SCADS_ of additional packages AFAIK). Hope that helps... Cheers! On a similar note, if anyone has taken a look at the ipkonfig review of 9.1 pro ( http://www.ipkonfig.com/cms/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=142&Itemid =29 ) you would notice the reviewer has a very interesting desktop setup, it's kde3.2 but there's some kind of bar at the top of the screen, the icons look pretty cool, the colour scheme looks really nice and it looks like he's running gdesklets (isn't it gnome only?), does anyone know how to set it up so that it looks similar? Right now I'm running 9.1 personal and it looks pretty bland. -j- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca
