Hi, Just an update to whom interested in this issue:
Gustin, you are very right from the beginning! It turn out to be a bad networking. Now it's fixed but I still don't understand why. Originally my gateway machine use a single NIC connect to a GigE switch: It use DHCP to obtain IP from ADSL peer, and also use IP alias as internal server, samba is running on this gateway. This works fine for half a year, the annoying samba issue suddenly appear only recently. Exhaustive searching & testing didn't find any clue.
