Entirely possible that my ATI is the problem. I had to twist a few bits
to get it working and it may still be somewhat unstable or I may have
left some nasty stuff lying around during my scuffle with it.

All in all I can't complain. This is the most functional laptop I've had
to date (read 100% except for the sporadic resume thing) so I'm pretty
happy.

Off to experiment more...
