I have a classic unix machine that's taking up room in my basement. The
machine is free with the understanding that I will not provide any kind
of support for it and you have to come pick it up. The machine is an SGI
Indigo2 Impact 10000. It's in excellent condition and even has the
original vertical mounting feet.
This type of system was used in the animation of movies like Toy Story.
The machine has 576mb ram, Impact 10K graphics and a 195mhz IP28 R10K
CPU, there is no hard drive but the sleds are there. Any 50 pin SCSI
hard disk should work in the system. The system requires a PS/2 keyboard
and mouse and the video card uses 13W3 connectors the same as found on
sun systems.
Its' a great way to explore the once mighty IRIX operating system or
play with linux/bsd on a machine that cost over $60,000 in 1996.
Please send me a message off-list if you are interested.
