I am interested in both sides (voice and data), but would it be a good
idea to try setting up mesh networking as a first exercise?

I have a laptop and netbook plus two usb WiFi directional antennas.

Then there is the software setup. I am looking for some easy setup
scripts relating to Debian. Here is one:
