Thanks for the feedback. As I said, I use this routinely with Lubuntu and Edubuntu. I am, in fact, using tethering now. The computer is too old to have any USB 3 ports. The tethering issue has taken back seat to gparted not allowing me to move/resize the ntfs partition with Windows 7 on it.
