So I think I need to finally get back into some decent graphics. I've been using on-board video for a few years now, usually favoring Intel graphics cards. BUT, now I need some hardware acceleration to do some CAD work. Problem is I have lost touch with what hardware is recommended. Google searches are finding old news.

So, I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and need a average card that will support CAD type operations. I'm hearing Nvidia is a "bad company" with regards to Linux support. Intel seems to be lacking in the acceleration department (current Intel Card isn't good enough). That leaves ATI but I can't find anything solid that says ATI will work. What's the right flavor this year? :)

Thanks for any tips.

Shawn
