I beleive fax is just a tiff. Does anyone know? I use to have a simply wonderful fax program: Faxworks for OS/2
It looked like an HP Lazer printer to the word processors and did a pretty excellent job of sending, receiving and archiving. Alas when OS/2 bit the dust and I switched to Linux I had no good way to run such great software. I have an HP8500 combinination printer now which I intend to get going with a fresh installation of likely Debian but I have been looking at Ubuntu as well. Now we talked about an install fest and I think these limitation type topics are exactly why we need an install fest. Perhaps we can set up a "virtual" install fest. I know I have so little need for faxing these days that I just use a manual system but it might be a decent idea to get fax back up and running for me and I'd prefer to use use fax over IP. There is so much we can do with ssytems like Asterisk. We really don't need the phone company any more. JMHO.
