I would really like to see this bug properly fixed for 2.8.5 since the
workaround you suggested long ago of invoking a cmake session from
within your principal cmake session to independently test language
support has limitations.  For example, it is difficult to propagate
user-specified compilers or compiler flags from the principal cmake
session to the test cmake session because there are so many different
ways for the user to specify compiler or compiler flags.

Once there is a proper fix for 9220, I would be happy to help test it.
