I understand that. Maybe we should let the user decide whether to use the advantages the declarative spec or to use a script to generate it. That way, we would not lose the scripting future, which is a big future of CMake. On the other side, we would not force users to use that and even we would make it a lot easier for IDEs to manage these projects.
