well yes, that's why people like Eike are trying to do stuff to improve it.

QBS is also fairly suboptimal in my opinion even if the language is cleaner - had my share of bugs (sometimes meaning that I couldn't run a build at all) with some projects using it (namely OpenFrameworks) and ended up using CMake ports which were much more reliable.
