actually, I have found if I change the following entry (add expat to the linker flags) in cmxmlrpc/CMakeLists.txt this problem goes away:

TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES(xrtest cmXMLRPC cmexpat expat ${CMAKE_DL_LIBS})
