Yes but if he stays overnight and is out of the bldg at midnight you cannot bill for that day. Depending on your policies, state Medicaid regulations etc, they may need to be advised they will have to pay privately to hold the bed. I am sure that the family must be making “special arrangements” to provide short term care and I would document it to support the resident requiring SNF care vs out patient services. A simple statement r/t more family available or something is sufficient.
