Hello All, Bob, congratulations to you!!! You give us all hope. I am new to the group, so I forgive me for asking, but I presume that BMS is a new drug that they are trying?
Gloria, my prayers and best wishes are with you as you recover from your BMT. As for me, I just returned from MD Anderson in Houston, where I met with Dr. Cortes. He enrolled me in a study using a high dose (800mg/day) of Gleevec, and after 6 months, one half of the program participants will receive peg-Interferon and Lukeine. I was randomly assigned to that arm of the study. The theory is that those who receive the interferon and lukeine will do even better than those on Gleevec alone. I have not yet read much about Interferon, as I understood Gleevec to be the standard treatment now, so can anyone give me a few pointers on what to expect? Am I correct in thinking that Interferon may have some unpleasant side effects?
