Yes people taking interferon can get flu shots. I had my flu shots while I was on interferon. Additionally you should also get flu shots when you are on Gleevec. I think older people should make sure they get flu shots has the flu is much more debilitating in older people.
I want to add something else to this. A few years ago Richard R posted about having a prescription of Amatadine kept handy for the flu season as well. Amatadine (symmetrel) is quite an effective prophylaxis of infections caused by viruses A & B, and it has shown to be effective in shortening the duration of the disease. I tried it and it worked wonderfully. So get your flu shots and have your doctor write you a prescription for Amatadine - just in case ;>)! Why suffer if you don't have to!
