Blue Cross and Blue Shield is wonderful. BUT! Becareful before you drop the one you have. Some insurances don't cover preexisting conditions. That means they might not cover you for CML. Check them out really good. JUDY dx99

Irene, it depends on what program of Blue Cross Shield you are covered. Some programs on PPO you will end up paying 20% of the prescription drug. And as you know Gleevec is an expensive medicine. It cost $2660 for 30 days of 400 mg supply. Check it out if it is flat rate for prescription too.

I have been looking over health insurance options for next year. I have Aetna HMO now but want to change because I live in Houston and want to be able go to MD Anderson. Looking at all the choices, I was thinking that Blue Cross Blue Shield basic plan would be the way to go. It is a PPO that includes MD Anderson and it is a flat fee rather then a percentage.
