Kate, I am thinking that since your baby is a "product" from you and your husband that it is very likely the cord blood would only be a 50% match. My husband and I were tested for a match for our son. We were both a 3 out of 6 match. I am thinking that would be the case for your baby's cord blood, unless you and your husband share a common ethnic background.

should bank the cord blood from our baby who is due in
March. My husband was diagnosed with CML 3 years ago
and has been in remission on gleevec for the last 2.5
years. The price for banking the cord blood is very
high, though I feel with my husband having CML, taking
this insurance could prove priceless.
I would like to get other peoples views on this
subject and also if anyone on the list has done this.

ps. to follow up with Travs low blood cell counts, he
came off Gleevec for 5 days and they went back up to
normal :)
