I am passing along an introduction from Carol who has joined the group. Her dad was able to get into the BMS trial just days after he had been put into hospice and is now in remission.

He went into the blast phase about two years ago and has been through numerous chemos since then. In July of 2004, he was told that there was nothing more that could be done for him and to check into hospice care. On the show they were interviewing someone about a new drug being studied for cml that was have suprising success. I went home and googled what I could remember about the interview and found "Jerry's Diary". From this I found a wealth of information about the study. I managed to get my dad into the study and his leukemia is now in remission! Phase 2 of the study should be starting soon. I've made this sound easy, but its been a very difficult time for my dad and my family. My dad is still struggling with problems he still has from previous chemos and other health issues he has. I decided to particpate in this group because I need the support in order to keep up the support for my dad and to offer encouraging news in this cml fight. The study drug is called bms-354825.
