A lot of the older articles suggest a poorer prognosis with Derivative 9 chromosome deletion. There are about 44 studies in the hubmed database that mention the deletion.   http://www.hubmed.org/search.cgi?q=Derivative+9+chromosome+deletion   A 2003 Blood article indicates that preliminary data shows  a poorer prognosis on Gleevec and with transplants. However another 2003 study said "We found no difference in survival between patients with and without deletions, contrasting with previous reports in cohorts with a lower proportion of patients treated with imatinib.
