Glucosamine helps cartilage matrix regenerate. There is a lot of
evidence that it is very effective for arthritic knee and hip joints,
but it would not have any effect on bone pain since cartilage is not
involved. Chondroitin is supposed to be a hydroscopic material that
attracts fluid to large joints, especially knee and hip. However, I do
not believe that there is any scientific evidence that proves it
actually works. Again, it would not have any effect on the kind of leg
and foot pain caused by Gleevec. I have bad knees and have spent a lot
of time studying the popular remedies. In any event, both glucosamine
and chondroitin are harmless, so you should take them if they make you
feel better. Glucosamine has definitely helped my knees, although has
not cured the problem. It will take at least 3 months before
glucosamine can rebuild enough cartilage matrix to have any effect.

Again, I recommend you turn to the experts for advice on countering any
Gleevec side effect. They have seen hundreds of patients, and know
what works and what doesn't. They are often the nurses who work for
the leading researchers like Druker et al. That said, I love Chrissy's
beanbag trick!
